![]() ![]() The reason why Persona 4’s anime adaptation is so beloved is because it doesn’t try and cram everything about the story into it It’s the same story, but there are more creative liberties taken with how it’s paced and structured and it ultimately worked to its benefit. Also, despite the new additions to the story being appreciated, it sorta harms it as a standalone film by not having some aspects fully realised. It functions as a film for sure, but the pacing is very janky compared to the game which already had the worst pacing out of the modern Persona games. The negatives however have to do with the movie trying to squeeze about 15-20 hours of a video game into 1 1/2 hours. ![]() I also appreciated the changes to how the second operation played out, giving Makoto an actual character arc, overall improving Fuuka’s presence in the story, and on top of that holy WOW this movie looks so damn pretty. Junpei, while I liked him in the game, was bordering on intolerable in the early parts of the story, so I’m glad that they gave him a much more likeable presence here while not completely throwing his arc out the window. By 'stream', I mean from Funi and Crunchy. Finally decided to start watching these after replaying Persona 3, and while I’m biased since P3 is my favourite game in the franchise, I still like a lot of what they did here. ![]()
